Abstract

This research aims to highlight the path of the priest Juan Ignacio Moreno (Guayaquil 1767-Lima 1841); analyzing documents from the Juzgado de la Caja General de Censos de Indios de Lima preserved by the General Archives of Peru. As Rector of the Colegio de Caciques de Lima, Moreno, promoted the access of natives to receive an education, which would allow them to leave their state of prostration, one of their characteristics.
