The father Diego Cisneros, enlightened intellectual, librarian, New Rezado bookseller and founder of the modern San Marcos Bookstore
Abstract
This article presents the figure of escurialense monk Fray Diego Cisneros which has not been unknown in the Peruvian intellectual world since the beginning of the twentieth century, and even in recent years of this century great men of letters and historians have collected their name in different studies. However, much more it was known in the nineteenth century and later when he was named a street in the 4th block Jr. Puno the historic center of Lima, although generically the ceramic plate remembers him as "Father Geronimo Street”; that was the name he was known, thus linking it to the religious order of St. Jerome for which reason it was in Peru. For years it has investigated the life adventure of Father Jerome in Lima where he spent half a lifetime (1772-1812), filled with an intense academic and intellectual activity, occupying an important chapter in the history of contemporary letters Peru.
