Abstract

The article analyzes the transformation of the anticommunist discourse within the Peruvian political party Revolutionary Union (UR). It examines the adaptation of its conceptual framework from 1931 to 1936, a phase characterized by the transition from right-wing nationalism to an openly fascist ideology. To this end, the party’s official press is studied using the theoretical lens of Conceptual History. In its initial phase, the UR employed the neologism «aprocomunismo» to identify and combat its aprista opposition. However, following its fascistization, the discourse shifted to align itself with more clearly defined transnational categories such as «communism» and «aprismo» reorganizing its vocabulary and political action within the context of Óscar Benavides’ government.
