Abstract

The article shows documents preserved by the Archivo General de la Nación del Perú, which highlight important events occurred during the final campaign for the Independence of Peru. It is found documents that address topics such as the patriotism of the indigenous people in the central Peruvian highlands, the military strategy followed by the generals in command of the Liberation Army, small battles between the belligerent troops, the commemorations of the patriotic victory in the Battle of Ayacucho, and others. These documents are valuable sources of information about moments of political and social uncertainty, which led Peru towards a new period in its history.
