The principalship of Juan Antonio Ribeyro and the impact of the educational reform of 1876 at the University of San Marcos (1876- 1886)
Abstract
This research focuses on taking stock of the impact of the educational reform of 1876 through the analysis of three indicators during Ribeyro’s principalship: the role of university autonomy, the relevance as a project of the Faculty of Political and Administrative Sciences, and the development of university students and professors. Ribeyro faced the start of the Pacific War and the subsequent Chilean occupation, which seriously affected the university and directly influenced the academic dynamics developed by professors and students.
