A dowry from Francisco Llacsaluana, Andean colonial chief of Lunahuaná, central Peruvian coast (1643)
Abstract
We analyze and publish here an endowment donation of 1643 from the kuraka Francisco Llacsaluana de Lunahuaná to his son-in-law Diego Jacobo, kuraka of the Chincha valley married to Llacsaluana's daughter. The document is part of the evidence attached to an extensive trial begun in 1684 and preserved in the National General Archive, and is studied here for providing details of the family connections, economic interests and social strategies of the kuraka family in charge of the administration of the middle valley of Cañete until the end of the 18th century.
