Industrial promotion in Peru during the second export boom, 1890-1930: new evidence
Abstract
The article analyzes a group of measures established in Peru between 1880 and 1930, selected for their relevance to the country's industrial sector. The objective is to identify to what extent this institutional offer could have had the capacity to encourage investment in the industry during the indicated period. After placing the indicated decades in an economic and historical context, tax and tariff incentives and facilities for new industries are identified that question the traditional historiography, which reduced the importance of the domestic market and the institutional framework in the Peruvian economic process at the end of the 19th century and the first three decades of the 20th century.
