The castles of Callao before the peace of Ayacucho: Brigadier José Ramón Rodil and the trial of history
Abstract
The present essay is a preview of a more complete research about the resistance held in Callao and the struggle of José Ramón Rodil, a Spaniard Marshal, against the Patriot Army. It emphasizes the success occurred between February and December of 1824 when the Real Felipe Castle fell again under Spanish rule.
Above all, this research leaves behind old paradigms and presents a different and critical approach; emphasizing the importance of Prosopographic Studies to reach out and understand the way of thinking of historical figures like Rodil.
