Visits to the valley of Piedra Liza and Amancaes (1781-1820)
Abstract
This paper enters into an invisible valley of Lima’s historiography: the Piedra Liza and Amancaes’ valley through visits and revisits made by the judges of water during 1781 and 1820 period, the last decades of Spanish colonial domain in Peru.
Documentary sources allow us to learn about units of production which existed in the valley located in Abajo el Puente district including: farms, orchards and mills, their owners and/or tenants, as well as the various problems associated with water distribution originated in the great canal of Piedra Liza.
